Dear Students, Welcome to our University... Turkish Language, Atatürk's Principles and the History of the Revolution, and Foreign Language courses, which are mandatory in all departments of all universities in Turkey, as well as Occupational Health and Safety courses, which are mandatory in some departments, are offered in two different ways at our university's Vocational School and Faculties. Our students can take these courses either by attending a class on Saturday or by distance learning online. During course registration week, when registering for courses, the system will prompt students to choose either Face-to-Face or Distance Learning (UZEM) for Turkish Language, Atatürk's Principles and the History of the Revolution, Foreign Language (Options will only be available to Vocational School and State Conservatory students), and Occupational Health and Safety courses. Note: Students from the Faculty of Education will take these courses Face-to-Face; the system will not offer a choice. Since Foreign Language courses in faculties with a 4-year or higher degree will be offered face-to-face, students will not be given the option of only Foreign Language courses. When choosing these courses as Face-to-Face or UZEM, you should consider the following points:
A- Students who choose Face-to-Face:
Attendance is mandatory.
Classes will be held on Saturdays in the Faculty of Medicine classrooms.
B- Students who choose UZEM as their Common Courses:
Classes will be held online only, and attendance is not mandatory.
Classes will be tracked through the course portal at eders.omu.edu.tr. Please follow the UZEM (Distance Education Center) website (uzem.omu.edu.tr).
Students who choose UZEM as their courses will pay 200 TL per semester for each course.
Students from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Law will pay 400 TL per course because they register for these courses annually.
Students who choose UZEM as their courses will submit their course registrations for advisor approval and will pay their UZEM fees on a later date. Students can pay their course fees via ZIRAAT BANK ATMs or Internet Banking using their student numbers.
Once course selections are complete and classes are finalized, your password for accessing the UZEM system will be as follows: Username: Your student number. Password: The first 6 digits of your Turkish ID number + the first 3 letters of your name, capitalized. For example, a student named AHMET, whose Turkish ID number is 12345678900, will have a password of 123456AHM. Note: 1- The exam schedule will be announced at your school, on department bulletin boards, and at uzem.omu.edu.tr. 2- Students wishing to be exempt from English must take and pass the Foreign Language Exemption Exam on September 24, 2025.
